The Butterfly Park is established in a big hothouse on a former gardening ground on the outskirts of Nexø. The gardening ground contains, in addition, a beautiful ornamental garden as well as a more “natural” garden, where Danish butterflies can be discovered. A playground established for children, forms part of the garden. |

The numerous different kinds of butterflies are a beautiful expression of nature's diversity.
The Butterfly Park gives the visitors an exceptional chance to come close to the tropical butterflies which literally flap around among the visitors. It's possible to witness the butterflies' mating dances, and on the different plants the eggs which just have been placed there, can be seen very clear as well as the developed caterpillars. If you have a close look, it is possible to see the very well-camouflaged chrysalides underneath the plants' leaves. From a glass cage, you can follow the chrysalides' development which ends with the development of a magnificent butterfly. The butterflies' lives are short, and the visitors might come across a dead butterfly on their way though the park. For some of the butterflies, life only endures 8 days which primarily are used to secure the next generation.
Besides many different butterflies, it's also possible to experience quails which clean the soil for ants and snails, to see Japanese Koi carps in the lakes of the tropical land and discover different kinds of humming birds, parrots and parakitter.
